In the beginning, it felt like it was my RIGHT to live in clean surroundings, then for a while it became an EXPECTATION, but when nothing happened, one day it finally became ‘EK PRAYATAN’.
That is how Paramarthi was born - an initiative to clean and maintain the public places like parks, sidewalks, roads.
It all started with a thought to bring back the original beauty of Dwarka sub-city, New Delhi.
But that’s not the end, It’s a journey that has just began…
Our First Step
Our crew has begun the cleaning and maintenance work from sector – 11 Dwarka
Paramarthi stands for “selfless service towards others”, an attribute that adheres to the moral principal of giving back to the society, a principle that sounds naïve and idealistic to critics.
Mr. Ravi Tandon started Paramarthi in 2018, which is a public hygiene and cleanliness NGO in Dwarka. He always had an inclination towards community welfare and cleanliness and the state of filth and trash that was being dumped in Dwarka which was taking a personal toll on him.
So, he decided to take it upon himself and shoulder without any external and political help and he takes the responsibility of cleaning his neighbourhood. And most importantly, it is free of any agenda or self-promotion.
As of now the roadside and footpath that were previously unmaintained and littered now remain sparse clean and pristine because of constant monitoring, action and maintenance efforts by him and his team.
If you happen to go through the before and after pictures of the action areas they have undertaken, you will find a stark difference in the state of cleaning and order and instead of just stopping there, he and his team inspect the sites every few days to ensure it remains that way.
Most people complain criticize the government and local bodies like MCD. The harsh reality is that we, as a country and culture are remarkably negligent and tolerant towards filth, disorderliness and trash dispensation on the streets, Footpaths and any place that does not fall into our immediate area of concern.
Paramarthi aims to create a space for people where they actually care just for the sake of caring because we need that in abundant supply right now. The Indian in us will have to rise up and cleanse the apathy towards our surrounding and be Self-motivated, self-driven and proactive.
